Viking is seeking an experienced Cell Manager to join the Production Department in Sidney, BC.

Viking Air Limited is the global leader providing support and services, and manufacturing of utility, specialty, and fire-fighting aircraft.  Viking provides OEM support for the global fleet of de Havilland DHC-1 through DHC-7 and the Bombardier CL-215, 215T and 415 aircraft.


Leadership comes to you naturally.  You have demonstrated the ability, time and again, to effectively manage the daily challenges at the manufacturing cell level.  As a coach you provide direction, instructions and guidance to a group of skilled operators instilling the can-do attitude and workmanship standards of a winning team. You enjoy the demands of working in a fast-paced production environment governed by exacting standards, fluctuating requirements, growing demand, and continual improvement initiatives. 


As the Cell Manager, reporting to the Plant Manager, you;

  • Lead the team to meet or beat all departmental targets with respect to:
    • Safety First
    • Quality
    • Schedule / Delivery
    • Cost
    • Inventory
  • Work closely with an integrated team of dedicated people who love to build airplanes and continually push the Viking legacy as a world leader in amphibious aircraft manufacturing to greater heights. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Conducting daily team talks/start up meetings with operators, charge hands, planners, Quality Control and Engineering.
  • Conducting daily Cell 5S, training and Safety tasks/audits
  • Conduct metrics reviews (daily board walks, monthly performance scorecards)


  • Post-secondary degree a plus
  • Trade certification/diploma in at least one or more of the following related disciplines (Lean Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Project Management, Safety Management, etc.)
  • You have successfully implemented and worked with Lean Manufacturing concepts, Management Operating Systems and understand the power of both.
  • Experience leading a manufacturing operation (preferably in an aerospace environment).
  • Experience managing a mixture of junior and senior operators.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Experience working with Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Experience with production planning.
  • Experience with facilities planning.
  • Experience with quality management (first pass yield, non-conformance and rework management).
  • Experience with cost management (dept. budgets).
  • Experience with setting and meeting productivity improvement objectives.
  • Lean Green Belt or Black belt a plus
  • Management training a plus
  • Training and/or coaching experience a plus


  • Ability to clearly enunciate language;
  • Good hearing;
  • Good mobility;
