Viking is seeking three experienced Trainers to join the Quality department in Victoria, BC. 

Viking Air Limited is the global leader providing support and services, and manufacturing of utility, specialty, and fire-fighting aircraft.  Viking provides OEM support for the global fleet of de Havilland DHC-1 through DHC-7 and the Bombardier CL-215, 215T and 415 aircraft.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Reporting to the Director, Quality, the primary responsibilities of the Trainer are:

Developing, conducting, and maintaining training courses that cover all Viking employees in all departments.  Work closely with Cell Managers, Department Managers, Methods Engineering, Safety and Wellness, People and Wellness, and QC to ensure comprehensible and sustainable training processes are established and maintained

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish training plans for minimum required training for critical processes, initial training for new employees, update training process, and additional training.
  • Set up and conduct classroom based technical training. This includes theoretical and practical demonstration and evaluation aspects of training.
  • Liaise with Managers of all departments to develop robust training solutions and tracking to meet training demands through effective training resource management. This includes working with Cell Managers, Department Managers, Safety & Wellness, People and Wellness, Methods Engineering and QC on cell effectiveness training.
  • Conduct and complete workstation profile assessments to ensure training requirements are met at the workstation level.
  • Conduct coaching sessions in classroom and on the floor where needed to ensure effectiveness of training activities.
  • Support the set up and maintenance of training classroom and on-line materials including training aids, tools, presentations, exercises, exams, feedback sessions, records, approvals/authorizations, evaluations, etc.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training and lead the continual improvement initiatives where gaps in effectiveness have been identified through training metrics and user feedback. Includes supporting train the trainer programs.
  • Promoting performance improvement through employee development plans and self-evaluation programs.

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a technical vocation (e.g. component assembly, processing, fabrication, etc.) relevant to manufacturing and/or manufacturing support group functions (e.g. Quality Control, Engineering, Supply Chain, project management, etc.).
  • Training experience preferably in a manufacturing environment or as a coach or an instructor in a technical trade course at a recognized educational institution is an asset. 
  • Competency in using MS office (excel, word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written skills with experience writing work instructions, training material, tests, etc.) a plus
  • Familiarity with training software (i.e. LMS, Moodle, training manager, etc.) is a plus.

  • Ability to clearly enunciate language;
  • Good presentation skills;
  • Good hearing;
  • Good mobility;
  • Positive attitude.
