Viking is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join the Customer Service and Product Support (CSPS) division in Calgary.

Viking Air Limited is the global leader providing support and services, and manufacturing of utility, specialty, and fire-fighting aircraft.  Viking provides OEM support for the global fleet of de Havilland DHC-1 through DHC-7 and the Bombardier CL-215, 215T and 415 aircraft.


The Contracts Manager is responsible for creating, managing, training and administering the key aspects of supply chain and customer contracts and external program agreements associated with Customer Service and Product Support activities.

This includes supporting the development, review, communication, and fulfillment of contract terms and conditions for any related new agreements or any changes or modifications to such existing agreements as required; ensuring adherence and compliance to regulatory, legislative and industry specifications;



  • Responsible for all aspects of contract management; contracting discipline, pricing and proposal development, negotiations support and internal financial contract administration;


  • Draft and negotiate various contractual documentation relating to the Customer Service and Product Support business (CSPS) including product sale agreements, service contracts, Intellectual property licensing agreements and third party supplier agreements;


  • Participate in, support or lead, as appropriate, the negotiation of contractual documentation with customers and their contracts and legal team, alone or in cooperation with other internal team members as appropriate;


  • Develop and maintain "terms and conditions" for various agreements and any related activities. Interact with the legal external service providers as required to ensure the accuracy and validity of contract information. Recommend modifications to accommodate regulatory, legislative, industry or Viking changes;


  • Manage ongoing relationships and communicate effectively with the customer and internal stakeholders, including being the primary Contracts focal for certain customers and potential customers;


  • Manage and coordinate the preparation and negotiation of contract change proposals and agreements including contractual reviews and approvals.


  • Ensure, in conjunction with other relevant team members, that all internal governance requirements are complied with.


  • Oversee day to day management of executed contracts including ongoing discussions on changes to the contract, addressing questions and resolving any issues


  • Support program reviews with top suppliers and supplier development


  • Advise or work with customers, suppliers and internal service providers as required to ensure needs are met. Serve as the point on contact and subject matter expert for CSPS contractual matters;
  • Support CSPS operations in the development and management of standardized contract administration processes. Provide consistent visibility and communication to Production, Business Development, Finance and external third party suppliers (as applicable) on all upcoming actions, changes and plans to ensure fulfillment of mutual objectives;


  • Assess, track and identify key needs for long-term contracts including specification, acquisition, maintenance, and support requirements. Identify, monitor and assist in the mitigation of contractual risks during the performance of the contract.
  • Provide leadership for the contracts administration, compliance and database function. Organize, maintain and electronically track all contracts and related documents. Ensure that database system functions properly; Manage Viking's portfolio of contracts. Lead contract close-out efforts;
  • Manage the day to day activities of the contracts team and provide guidance and mentorship to develop the skills and capabilities of the team.



Reports to the Commercial Director. The Contracts Manager works closely with the staff in CSPS, Finance, Customer Service, Supply Chain and the Management Team to ensure that our customer commitments are accurately tracked and ultimately met.



  • BS/BBA/BA in Business, Finance, Engineering or related field;
  • 5-7 years of professional contracts or business related experience preferred;
  • You have proven track record in commercial management in a complex business environment, ideally in Aviation or similar business areas (e.g. railways, construction, oil & gas, technology, energy);
  • Experience and knowledge in proposal preparation, risk identification and negotiations;
  • Knowledge of contract and intellectual property law and its application in the purchasing process is required;
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, be very detail oriented, have excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and other electronic document management systems is required;
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations related to U.S. ITARS and Canadian Controls Goods requirements preferred
